What Is Fraxel Dual?

Fraxel Dual treats microscopic columns of skin while leaving surrounding tissue untreated. This fractional approach initiates a controlled healing and remodeling response while avoiding removal of the entire skin surface. Fraxel Dual incorporates two wavelengths that can be selected according to the condition being treated.

1550 nm

The 1550 nm wavelength reaches more deeply into the skin and is commonly selected when the treatment goal includes texture, fine lines, acne scars, surgical scars and collagen remodeling.

1927 nm

The 1927 nm wavelength targets more superficial skin layers and is commonly selected for concerns such as sun damage, uneven pigmentation and selected pigmented lesions. Treatment choice depends on individual evaluation.

Laser Skin Resurfacing for Spots and Wrinkles

Fraxel Dual is one option for laser skin resurfacing in NYC. Depending on the evaluation and treatment plan, it may be considered as a laser wrinkle treatment for selected fine lines and uneven texture, a laser treatment for sun spots, or a laser treatment for age spots in selected cases. Pigmented lesions should be evaluated before cosmetic laser treatment.

Patients asking about laser wrinkle treatment for around eyes or eyelids wrinkle treatment need an individual assessment of the delicate eye area. Explore our eyelid wrinkle laser treatment options; the appropriate approach depends on anatomy and treatment goals.

Why Choose Dermacare Medical for Fraxel in NYC?

Effective fractional resurfacing requires more than selecting a laser setting. Treatment depth, wavelength, energy, coverage and treatment pattern should be selected according to the patient’s skin, condition being treated, prior procedures and tolerance for recovery.

At Dermacare Medical, Fraxel treatment is performed by Dr. Yuriy Yagudin after an individual evaluation. Treatment plans may differ for pigmentation, photodamage, scars, fine lines and texture concerns.

Individualized Treatment Planning

The 1550 nm wavelength, 1927 nm wavelength, or an individualized approach may be considered depending on the treatment goal. A consultation is used to determine whether Fraxel is appropriate and what level of treatment is reasonable for your skin.

What to Expect During Fraxel Treatment

The skin is prepared before treatment and comfort measures may be used. The Fraxel handpiece is passed systematically over the treatment area to create microscopic treatment zones. Appointment length varies according to the area treated and the treatment plan.

Fraxel Recovery & Downtime

Redness, warmth and swelling are common after treatment. Depending on wavelength, settings and individual response, the skin may subsequently appear bronzed or darker and develop dryness or flaking as treated surface cells shed. Visible recovery varies; some patients resume routine activities quickly while others prefer several days before social events.

Immediately AfterRedness, warmth and swelling can occur.
First Few DaysRedness and swelling generally improve; bronzing or dryness may develop.
Following DaysFlaking or shedding can occur as the skin recovers.
Following WeeksTexture and tone may continue to improve as remodeling develops.

This is a general recovery pattern, not a guarantee. Recovery depends on treatment settings, wavelength, treatment area and individual response.

How Many Fraxel Treatments Will I Need?

The appropriate number of treatments depends on the condition being treated, severity, wavelength and settings used, response to previous treatment, and the patient’s goals. Some concerns may be treated with a series of sessions, while other treatment plans may differ. Dr. Yagudin will recommend a plan after evaluation.

Preparing for Fraxel

Patients should provide a complete medical and medication history, including history of cold sores, abnormal scarring, recent tanning, active skin conditions and recent procedures. Avoiding significant sun exposure before and after treatment is important. Individual pre-treatment instructions are provided based on the planned procedure.

After Fraxel

Gentle skin care, moisturizer and diligent sun protection are generally important during recovery. Patients should avoid rubbing, scrubbing or prematurely exfoliating healing skin. Specific post-treatment instructions are provided according to the treatment performed.

Fraxel FAQs

Is Fraxel an ablative laser?

Fraxel Dual is a non-ablative fractional laser system. It creates microscopic treatment zones while leaving intervening tissue intact.

What is the difference between Fraxel 1550 and 1927?

The wavelengths target different depths and concerns. The 1550 nm wavelength is commonly used for deeper remodeling goals such as texture and selected scars, while 1927 nm is commonly selected for more superficial photodamage and pigmentation concerns. Treatment selection requires individual evaluation.

How much downtime is there after Fraxel?

Downtime varies with the wavelength, settings, area treated and individual response. Redness, swelling, bronzing, dryness and flaking can occur.

Can Fraxel treat acne scars?

Fraxel may improve selected acne scars by stimulating fractional remodeling. Scar type, depth and skin characteristics influence whether it is an appropriate treatment.

Can Fraxel treat sun spots?

Fraxel, particularly treatment strategies using the 1927 nm wavelength, may be considered for selected pigmentation and sun-damage concerns. Diagnosis and treatment selection are important because not every pigmented lesion should be treated cosmetically.

Can Fraxel be used on the neck and chest?

Yes, selected patients may be treated on areas including the neck and chest. Settings and treatment approach must be adjusted for the anatomy and skin of the treatment area.

How much does Fraxel cost in NYC?

Cost depends on the treatment area and treatment plan. Dermacare Medical’s current new-patient offer is shown above; eligibility and current pricing can be confirmed when scheduling.
