Kybella® is an FDA-approved prescription injectable used in adults to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin, also known as submental fullness or a “double chin.”
At Dermacare Medical, treatment is performed by Dr. Yuriy Yagudin after an individualized evaluation of the chin, neck anatomy and treatment goals.
$499 per vial
Final treatment cost depends on the number of vials and sessions appropriate for your treatment plan.
Individual results vary. Before-and-after photographs do not guarantee a specific outcome.
Kybella contains synthetic deoxycholic acid, a molecule that helps break down dietary fat in the body. When properly injected into submental fat, it destroys targeted fat cells. The body gradually clears the cellular debris, reducing fullness beneath the chin.
Kybella is specifically FDA approved for improving the appearance of moderate to severe submental fat in adults. Its safety and effectiveness for treatment outside the submental area have not been established.
Dr. Yagudin marks an individualized treatment grid beneath the chin and places a series of small injections into the targeted fat. Over time, treated fat cells are cleared by the body.
Because neck anatomy and the distribution of submental fat vary considerably, correct patient selection and injection placement are important parts of treatment.
Kybella may be considered for adults bothered by moderate to severe fullness beneath the chin who prefer a nonsurgical injectable approach. A consultation helps determine whether the fullness is primarily caused by submental fat and whether Kybella is appropriate.
Loose skin, prominent neck muscles, enlarged glands, certain medical conditions or other causes of neck fullness may affect candidacy or require a different approach. Kybella is not a substitute for every type of neck or jawline treatment.
The number of sessions varies according to the amount and distribution of submental fat and the desired degree of improvement. The FDA-approved treatment protocol allows up to six treatments, spaced at least one month apart.
Not every patient needs the maximum number of sessions. Dr. Yagudin reassesses the response before recommending additional treatment.
Improvement develops gradually as the body processes the treated fat cells. Because swelling is expected after treatment, the final contour should not be judged immediately.
Individual response and the number of treatments required vary. Maintaining a stable weight can help preserve the overall contour.
Swelling beneath the chin is very common after treatment and can be noticeable, particularly after the first session. Bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of firmness can also occur.
Recovery varies by patient and treatment session. Dr. Yagudin provides individualized aftercare instructions based on the treatment performed.
Tell Dr. Yagudin about medical conditions involving the face, neck or chin; previous surgery or cosmetic procedures; swallowing problems; bleeding problems; pregnancy or breastfeeding; and all prescription, over-the-counter and supplemental medications.
Kybella should not be injected when there is an infection at the planned injection site.
Kybella treatment requires more than simply identifying fat beneath the chin. The lower face and neck contain important nerves, muscles and other structures, and patients differ in both anatomy and the cause of submental fullness.
Dr. Yuriy Yagudin personally evaluates patients at Dermacare Medical and develops an individualized injection plan based on anatomy, fat distribution and aesthetic goals.
Kybella is a nonsurgical injectable option for appropriate submental fat. Other approaches may be more suitable when the primary concern is loose skin, muscle bands, larger-volume fat or another anatomical issue.
Your consultation is designed to determine whether Kybella fits your goals rather than assuming every double chin should be treated the same way.
Kybella can cause side effects. Common reactions include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Important risks include nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness and difficulty swallowing. Other risks are reviewed before treatment.
Do not receive Kybella if you have an infection in the treatment area. Tell your healthcare provider about medical conditions and medications, particularly conditions involving the neck or swallowing and medicines that affect bleeding.
