Thinking about removing small facial bumps? Before comparing prices, confirm what the bumps are and what the treatment quote includes. At Dermacare Medical, sebaceous hyperplasia removal is planned after an individual evaluation.
Sebaceous hyperplasia consists of enlarged oil glands. The bumps are often skin-colored or yellowish, with a small central depression. They are benign, but some other growths can look similar. A changing, bleeding or uncertain lesion should be examined before destructive cosmetic treatment; biopsy may be appropriate when the diagnosis is unclear.
Dermacare Medical currently advertises a special starting at $200 and up. This is a starting price, not a fixed quote for every patient or every number of lesions. Confirm the current offer and an individualized total at consultation.
Useful questions include: How many bumps are included? Are all planned areas covered? Is follow-up included? If a bump needs another session, is there an additional charge? Ask for the treatment scope and price together so you can compare like with like.
After evaluation, a fine electrode is used to deliver focused energy to selected lesions. The goal is to reduce the unwanted gland tissue while limiting injury to surrounding skin. This lesion-directed approach differs from RF microneedling used over larger areas for skin remodeling. Technique, comfort measures and the treatment extent are individualized.
Small treated spots can look red or crusted before they settle. Arrange treatment around the recovery guidance given for your particular procedure rather than assuming you will be ready for an event the following day. Ask when you can resume makeup, exercise and your usual skin-care products.
Follow the office’s wound-care instructions and avoid picking. Contact the office if pain, redness or drainage is increasing or you develop other unexpected symptoms. Healing varies with treatment depth, location and individual skin characteristics.
Possible effects include lighter or darker discoloration, a shallow depression or a scar. No treatment can promise scar-free results. Your history of pigment changes or abnormal scarring is relevant to planning. A 2015 literature review discusses cosmetic tradeoffs and limitations across available treatments; it does not establish that one technique is best for every patient.
A treated lesion can recur, and new lesions can develop elsewhere. Additional sessions may be needed. Ask how your clinician balances adequate treatment against the risk of excess tissue injury. Permanent clearance of every bump should not be assumed.
Bring a list of medications, previous treatments and your main questions. You can view the procedure video and current offer on our sebaceous hyperplasia treatment page, or learn about radiofrequency skin treatment.

Considering laser resurfacing in New York City? Fraxel Dual and fractional CO2 lasers both address signs of skin aging and certain scars, but they work differently. The best option depends on the condition being treated, skin type, downtime preferences, and a physician’s assessment.
Fraxel Dual uses two non-ablative fractional wavelengths, 1550 nm and 1927 nm. Fractional treatment creates microscopic treatment zones while leaving intervening skin intact. The 1550 nm wavelength is often selected for texture and certain acne scars, while 1927 nm can address superficial pigmentation and sun damage. Treatment typically involves a series of sessions.
Fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers are ablative: they remove microscopic columns of skin and heat surrounding tissue. Depending on settings and patient selection, they may provide more substantial improvement in deeper wrinkles or scars per treatment, but generally involve more visible healing and higher risks than non-ablative fractional treatments.
Fraxel Dual commonly causes redness, swelling, and a sandpaper-like texture for several days, although recovery varies. Fractional CO2 commonly requires a longer period of wound care and social downtime, sometimes one to two weeks or more depending on treatment intensity. Neither is completely downtime-free.
For superficial sun damage and uneven pigmentation, the 1927 nm Fraxel wavelength may be useful. For textural changes and selected acne scars, 1550 nm Fraxel or fractional CO2 may be considered. More pronounced wrinkles or deeper scars sometimes benefit from ablative resurfacing, but stronger treatment is not automatically the safer or better choice. Some pigmentation disorders, including melasma, require special caution because heat and inflammation may worsen discoloration.
Both procedures can cause burns, prolonged redness, acne flares, infection, pigment changes, or scarring. Risk depends on skin tone, recent tanning, medications, history of cold sores, treatment settings, and aftercare. People with darker skin tones may have a greater risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation with some resurfacing approaches. A personalized evaluation is essential.
